Dear Shri. Rama Rao:
This is to register our deep concern regarding the deteriorating health of the people on the hunger strike that has entered its 32nd day on 21st July. We demand that the government enter into an open and democratic dialogue with the people of Dzongu before deciding on the hydel dams in the area.
It is a matter of shame that our government fails to pay heed to the voices of the people who will be affected the most. It is these voices that should shape the development of their societies, regions and states.
We demand that the government should immediately open a dialogue with the community without jeopardising the health of the fasters any further and agree to the setting up of a review committee as demanded by the Affected Citizens of Teesta (ACT).
